The biggest challenge for a small business owner to maintain their brand’s Instagram handle lies in consistently delivering fresh and engaging content that resonates with their followers. It’s not possible even for proper marketing teams to pump out content regularly. Small business owners, basically acting as a 1 person marketing team, cannot keep creating content regularly.

While I gave you a few strategies you can use to never run out of content ideas, the strategy of repurposing content allows you to maximize your efforts while maintaining a strong presence on the platform.

Repurposing content will save you tons of time and effort, but there are more reasons why you should be repurposing your content:

  • Establishes Brand Identity: Repetition reinforces your brand’s messaging and beliefs. By sticking to certain themes, tones, or styles, you’re basically telling your followers, “Hey, this is us, and this is what we’re all about.”
  • Maximises the Potential of Your Content: For new followers, repetitive content offers a chance to catch up on your brand story and offerings. Also, only a fraction of your audience sees your content the first time you post it, so repurposed content makes sure your hard work doesn’t go to waste.
  • Optimizes Best-Performing Content: Repetitive content allows you to capitalize on the success of your top-performing posts. When you know something was a hit before, why wouldn’t you remix it and release it again?
  • Prompts Action: Repetitive content serves as a powerful call to action, encouraging your audience to engage with your brand. Repeating certain key messages nudges them in the right direction. You need to say it enough times for them to listen and take action!

Here’s an in-depth look at how to effectively repurpose content on Instagram:

1. Repost User-Generated Content (UGC):

User-generated content is a goldmine for engagement and authenticity. Repost images, videos, or stories shared by your followers, showcasing real-life experiences with your product or service. This will also prove to your audience that you pay attention to and value what they have to say about your brand.

P.S. — Always remember to give credit to the original creator to foster a sense of community and appreciation.

2. Harness the Power of Carousel Posts:

Transform longer-form content, such as blog posts or tutorials, into engaging carousel posts. Break down the content into multiple slides, each featuring captivating visuals and concise text. Use this format to tell a story, share tips, or highlight different aspects of your brand or product.

You can also convert an informative reel into a carousel.

3. Leverage Instagram Stories Highlights:

The best way to repurpose your story content is by saving them as Highlights! Create themed categories, such as “Behind the Scenes,” “Product Features,” or “Customer Testimonials,” to organize your content. Highlights provide new followers with an opportunity to catch up on important content and get a deeper understanding of your brand.

4. Convert Live Streams into Reels:

You can reshare important parts from your engaging live streams or Q&A sessions in the reel format. This allows your audience to revisit the content at their convenience and provides additional opportunities for engagement through likes, comments, and shares. Add a catchy title and thumbnail and you have many reels ready from just 1 live session!

5. Engage with Interactive Polls and Quizzes:

Repurpose static content by transforming it into interactive polls, quizzes, or question stickers on Instagram Stories. Encourage your audience to participate and share their opinions, preferences, or feedback. This will not only boost engagement, but also provide valuable insights into your audience’s interests and preferences.

6. Share Throwback Posts or Milestones:

Take a trip down memory lane by repurposing old content and sharing throwback posts or celebrating milestones on your Instagram feed or Stories. Reflect on past achievements, memorable moments, or significant events in your brand’s journey. This adds a personal touch to your content and showcases your growth and evolution over time.

7. Showcase Product Reviews and Testimonials:

Repurpose customer reviews, testimonials, or user-generated content into visually appealing graphics or videos. Share stories of satisfied customers, highlighting the benefits and features of your product or service. This social proof can significantly influence purchasing decisions and build trust with your audience.

8. Turn Instagram Poll Results into Infographics:

Convert your audience’s preferences, answers, and opinions into vibrant data-driven infographics. This will be excellent educating content backed by real data!

9. Utilise FAQs

You will find frequently asked questions in your comments or direct messages that you can answer in static posts or an engaging reel. This will allow you to provide the audience with information they really want, in a creative way. This will also let your audience know that you do listen to them.

Though repurposing is an effective part of your content strategy, should you repurpose every piece of content? Not necessarily. Repurpose content that not only gave you the desired results earlier, but is also in line with your present goals.

So, there you have it — the ultimate content hack: repurposing!
